Other Roles

Members Discount Coordinator

This would suit anyone who is spending time around the local bike based businesses. Someone not shy picking up the phone, walking in a shop or haggling for an discount we can offer the volunteers. You’d work closely with the social media team promoting the discounts and putting shout outs to our partners. Also making sure things like the website are up to date with the latest offers and fielding any volunteer questions.

Health & Safety Shadow

Working closely with Neil our H&S Trustee this would be quite a hands off role. Initially you’d just need to get to know where all our documents are kept, how to take near miss reports and be ready to step into dig lead meetings etc. if Neil can’t make these. While a background in H&S would be nice, this is not required as long as you’ve got an interest in this kind of work. Super critical role for our relationship with FE.

Finance Shadow

Working with Ben, this will be a very low commitment role to start with. Just enough involvement to know where everything is kept and so you’re ready to take over if anything drags Ben away from us for a longer period.

Social Media Lead

Working into Rebecca our Comms Trustee we’re looking for anyone interested in social media content and production. All sorts of opportunities available, so if you’re into design, copy writing, website build, video production, moderating chat, looking at new ways of getting our message out there then let us know. Little and often is what to expect in terms of hours.

IT Support Lead

We don’t have a lot of IT @DTV but it would be good to have someone who can help decide what we use and look after it once it’s in use. We currently have a mix of Google, Microsoft and Facebook along with our website, ticketing and donation systems. Expect to be adding users, fielding support queries, keeping this updated and secure, and working with the Trustees on the bigger decisions on what systems need changing. Expect a lot of help from others.

Corporate Dig Coordinator

Working closely with the Trustee Dig Coordinator, this role looks at how we find new corporate partnerships where we get a good mix of donations and volunteers, recognizing what a great experience we can provide for team building. Working closely with Pedals and ideally someone with some experience of using LinkedIn would be a bonus. We can run as few or as many corporate digs as you like. The main aim is to get a good level of donations to go with the volunteering.

Litter Pick Lead

Working with Trash Free Trails we tend to run two or three of these each year. If you fancy I’m sure we could do more. Otherwise these are great family friendly events that keeps the place looking nice and smiles on people’s faces.

Tools & Container Lead

Picking up from the excellent work done by Amanda & Peter over the years. You’ll be organizing 2 or 3 events each year, for the generally well attended container clean ups and keeping on top of broken tools. There is a good team of people willing to help so more about organizing things but if you’re handy enough to fix and sharpen the tools all the better.

Events Coordinator

We have a few events each year that need a bit more organisation. Our AGM, #fodfest working with Pedals and adhoc things like the KAVS awards or the Hope Women’s festival. Someone who likes to take charge and get stuff done, always plenty of help and support available this role is all about making it happen behind the scenes. Anyone who fancies managing any of these events put your hand up too.

Funding/Projects Coordinator

Now we are fully fledged Charity we’re able to chase funding for projects like never before. We’ve got one in the pipeline for a joint project with Goals Beyond Grass to provide a couple of Bowhead adaptive bikes for those who can’t afford the initial costs and getting more folks with disabilities out on our trails. Anyone interested in giving back more and helping make projects of this kind happen, get in touch.

Youth Work Coordinator

We learnt a lot this year with a digs with John Kyrle. How much of a difference we can make to kids who aren’t thriving in an academic environment. Also what a challenge it is to ensure these digs are safe and well run. We’d love to see more but next time we want to go into things with our eyes wide open and so we’re looking for someone with any kind of background in working with challenging young people. It’s likely to be something we run for 3 or 4 months each year.

Volunteer Recruitment Lead

As you can see, there are so many opportunities for DTV now we’re a charity, We’re only really limited by what people want to give their valuable free time to do. As you can see every role helps the trails and helps DTV give back. Having someone who can lend a hand finding more volunteers would be great. Any sort of desire to work finding volunteers or experience recruitment in a commercial company would be great.
